The funniest supporting character in the new Asterix is called “Mandarfnix,” and the French cartoonists have apparently compiled him largely from the cliché image of the local angry citizen: Mandarfnix is in early retirement and travels through the countries with his wife Flottebine in their “cart,” knows everything better and quickly becomes enraged.
