Berlin City Mission collects winter clothing for the homeless in the Charlottenburg neighborhood store

On Saturday, March 1st, Berliners will have the last opportunity this winter season to donate warm winter clothing for those in need. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., citizens can drop off well-preserved, clean clothing for men and women, shoes, sleeping bags and sleeping mats at the Charlottenburg neighborhood store on Neue Christ Strasse 5. In future, a donation Saturday will take place on the first Saturday of every month under the motto "Donate, browse and shop," the Berlin City Mission announced.
The reason for the extension of the donation days is the increasing amount of unusable clothing in the clothing containers of the Berlin City Mission. Since the organization does not have the means to repair or clean it, this unwanted textile waste is disposed of at a cost. City Mission Director Christian Ceconi emphasizes that only clean and intact items can be accepted. "Our priority is to provide for homeless people in our clothing store," he explained. Anything that cannot be used directly is sold in the inclusion company "Komm & Sieh" and the proceeds go to projects for homeless and needy people.
What is particularly needed are socks, winter jackets, hoodies, jeans, hats and shoes for men, as well as winter jackets, sweaters, skirts and leggings for women. Hygiene products and sleeping bags are also welcome. Other donation options are available at Lehrter Straße 68 and at TEXTILHAFEN at Storkower Straße 139 D.
