Five different official salaries - Annalena Baerbock: This is how much the Foreign Minister gets

As Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock is in the political spotlight. But what does her considerable salary consist of?

Annalena Baerbock has been one of the most important people in German politics since she took office as Foreign Minister in December 2021. The salary of ministers in Germany is made up of various parts.

Annalena Baerbock's salary is clearly regulated and consists of various components. First and foremost is the official salary, which for the position of Foreign Minister amounts to around 15,500 euros per month. This basic salary is supplemented by further allowances. Baerbock also receives a flat-rate expense allowance of around 310 euros per month and a local allowance of around 1,100 euros.

As a Federal Minister and Member of the Bundestag, Annalena Baerbock is entitled to additional financial benefits. These include a 50 percent reduction in parliamentary compensation and a 25 percent reduction in the expenses allowance for members of parliament, which brings her an additional monthly income of around 8,600 euros.

If you add up all of these incomes, the Foreign Minister's total salary is more than 25,000 euros per month. Finance Minister Christian Lindner also receives a salary of the same amount.
