It's a bit sadder, but a big market: according to a WHO study, one in six people suffers from loneliness.

Meet5 aims to be a solution for this – a "socializing app for people over 40." Members will be able to use it to organize group meetings such as hikes, dinners, or cultural events. With more than 2.5 million registered users and over 40,000 meetings per month, according to the company, Meet5 considers itself the largest platform of its kind in Europe.

The Frankfurt-based startup has now raised over eight million euros in a Series A financing round, led by Dutch venture capital firm Peak .

The fresh capital will be used to expand the team to 80 employees, expand into the Benelux countries, France, and the USA, and further develop the app. The goal is to use improved algorithms to more effectively guide members to suitable activities and contacts. According to the company, users are particularly active: around 300,000 people participate in the events organized by the community every month.
