Chile declares state of emergency and curfew due to massive blackout

The government of Gabriel Boric declared a state of emergency and imposed a nightly curfew in much of Chile on Tuesday, following a massive blackout caused by an alleged failure of the electrical system, the Ministry of the Interior reported.

"We will have a curfew from ten at night until six in the morning" on Wednesday, said the head of the portfolio, Carolina Tohá, in a press conference.
