Collectives from Jalisco arrive in Mexico City; they ask to search for their missing people

The search group, Luz de Esperanza, went to Mexico City for a day of activities to demand support from the authorities and the location of their missing relatives.

The Jalisco search group was accompanied by groups from Nayarit and Mexico City itself and They held a protest at the Glorieta de las y los Desaparecidos in the country's capital, where they also carried out a paste-up of search cards with the details of their missing relatives.

Liliana Meza, co-founder of the Jalisco collective, said that It must be a priority that the families of missing persons be considered as priority groups and demands that the authorities stop hindering their search efforts.

"There are missing persons in all states and they all need to be a priority group and this federal government, all the agencies that have to do with missing persons, whether it is the Search Commission, should stop hindering our searches."

Hector Flores, spokesperson for the group, demands that the Federal Government come up with a strategy to stop forced recruitment.

"We are going to ask the Federal Government, this House of Representatives, for a national strategy against forced recruitment, which is the main cause of disappearances."

On January 29, Jalisco authorities detected and arrested thirty people in an organized crime recruitment camp in the municipality of Teuchitlán.

Héctor Flores recalled that during the last six-year state term, more than 9 thousand people disappeared in Jalisco, more than in any other six-year term.

In Jalisco, there are more than 15 thousand missing persons, according to the state registry on the matter. The groups' activities included a forum and a press conference at the Congress of the Union.
