Elon Musk could lose his Canadian citizenship for these reasons

Elon Musk, the special representative of the Department of Government Efficiency in the Donald Trump administration, could lose his Canadian citizenship; we tell you why.

The billionaire businessman, who also owns X, Tesla and Space X, faces the possibility of having his Canadian citizenship revoked at the request of a member of the Canadian House of Commons.

New Democratic Party (NDP) MP Charlie Angus submitted the request to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau via a petition to collect signatures.

On Thursday, February 20, Canadian politician Charlie Angus submitted a request to the Prime Minister to revoke Elon Musk's citizenship and his Canadian passport.

It should be noted that Elon Musk has three citizenships: American, Canadian and South African, since he was born in the latter country in 1971.

He obtained Canadian citizenship in 1989 after emigrating to the country and being the son of a Canadian mother, while he was granted American citizenship in 2002.

The petition, which was opened for signatures on February 20 and expires on June 20 of this year, has already accumulated more than 171,000 signatures from Canadians who support the withdrawal of Elon Musk's Canadian citizenship and passport.

Based on the petition document of MP Charlie Angus, he demands that Elon Musk's citizenship be revoked for participating in "activities that go against the national interest of Canada,"

It also notes that the tycoon – now head of the US Department of Government Efficiency – has used his money and power to influence Canadian elections.

Another argument is that he is also a member of a “foreign government that is trying to erase Canadian sovereignty.”

This is in the context of the United States' insistence on making Canada its 51st state, a proposal that has been supported by Elon Musk and who has even suggested using "economic force."

“We, the undersigned, citizens of Canada, call on the Prime Minister to revoke Elon Musk’s citizenship status and his Canadian passport with immediate effect,” the petition reads.
