Former PSOE ministers and parliamentarians demand Sánchez resign as party leader and hold an extraordinary congress.

A group of former ministers, members of parliament, and former high-ranking PSOE officials sent a letter this Tuesday to the President of the Government and Secretary General of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, demanding his "immediate resignation" as party leader and the convening of an extraordinary party congress to "safeguard the dignity" and "honor" of the Socialists.
The letter is signed by approximately 38 people who once held public office on behalf of the PSOE, including three former ministers and two former Senate presidents. Among other things, they express their "deep concern" at the "serious deterioration" that, in their opinion, the "continuous scandals" affecting the party's current leadership are causing to the PSOE.
"We convey this request with the respect your position deserves, but with the firm conviction that profound change is essential to preserve the future of democratic socialism in Spain," they argue.
