A "personal" choiceAND Regarding the criteria used when choosing visits, the Secretary of Local Governments and Relations with Aran, Xavier Amor, explained to ACN that in many cases the choice of municipalities is "personal and on the president's own initiative," and that they also receive requests from the town councils.
The secretary emphasized that Illa had already visited "virtually the entire country" when he was leader of the opposition, traveling more than 25,000 kilometers. He added that the president often "expressly" wants to address specific issues that mayors brought to his attention during this previous term.
After visiting the municipality, Amor said that the president forwards the demands and commitments made to his office, and they hold an initial discussion with the city councils. Afterward, he explained, these demands are forwarded to the various departments, and individuals are designated to follow up.
He also noted that "a new task has been given" to the directors of local government territorial services and government delegates, which is to monitor, "often in person," the municipalities to see how these demands are progressing. "We are closely monitoring these issues and are updated every two weeks," he emphasized.
