Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced in a statement the killing of Saeed Izadi, whom he identified as the commander of the Palestinian subgroup of the Quds Force, the elite corps of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard that leads operations abroad. Izadi was killed in an airstrike targeting his apartment in Qom, a city located about 156 kilometers southwest of Tehran.
Izadi "funded and armed Hamas" in preparation for the October 7, 2023, attacks, Katz said, calling his death "justice for those killed and kidnapped."

In addition, the Israeli Army also announced, hours earlier, the death this morning of Aminpour Joudaki, whom it identified as the commander of a drone brigade of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
"As part of his role, Aminpour Joudaki carried out hundreds of unmanned aerial vehicle strikes against Israeli territory from the Ahvaz area in southwestern Iran," the military statement reads. The Army maintains that Joudaki had assumed "a key role" in drone operations after the assassination of his predecessor, Taher Pour, on Friday, June 13, when Israel attacked Iran without provocation.
In addition, the Army also confirmed today the death of Behnam Shahriyari, commander of the Quds Force's Arms Transfer Unit, in a bombing of his vehicle in western Iran. It accused him of leading arms transfers and "hundreds of millions of dollars annually" to other militias through his connections in Turkey and Lebanon.

Early on Friday morning, June 13, Israel launched a massive bombing campaign against Iran, claiming it was at a "point of no return" due to Iran's rapid development of a nuclear bomb; a message it has been refocusing with calls from Israel to "undermine" or defeat the ayatollahs' regime.
On June 18, Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), reiterated that his agency had no evidence of a "systematic effort" by Iran to obtain the atomic bomb, according to an interview with CNN.
