Dirt

There will be no clean slate as long as there are dirty consciences. And anyone who votes for legislators with "dirty consciences" will be complicit in the prevailing corruption. For a long time now, simply paying taxes is not enough to improve our ailing country.

Dura lex

Is a clean record law necessary? This question worries politicians in general and, I believe, society very little. What is truly necessary is a competent, independent, and fundamentally expeditious justice system. Is it really logical that the Court has no time limits, and that certain cases lie dormant without anyone intervening? If criminal cases adhered to reasonable timescales, we wouldn't be debating whether corrupt officials and thieves could access public office today: they would be tried, convicted, imprisoned, and disqualified from holding office.

It will be justice. Dura lex, sed lex .

Vote inside

Recent elections in Argentina's deep interior tend to show a shift in the direction of the popular vote. It seems to be confirmed that just as in the 1940s, Peronism replaced and captured the conservative vote in those areas, which had practically disappeared in provinces where it had strong roots, such as San Luis and Salta (the same thing happened, at least, in Córdoba and the province of Buenos Aires), today the libertarians have shown they have absorbed a significant portion of the Peronist vote in provinces such as Jujuy, Salta, San Luis, and, at one time, Santa Fe, where the representation of the once majority party in those jurisdictions has significantly decreased, becoming merely symbolic in some places. Along with the triumph of the local governments and the poor performance of La Libertad Avanza, I believe this is a very relevant fact for understanding Argentina's political reality.

Surely CABA and the province of Buenos Aires will have a different picture.

Route 3

I'm 77 years old. Between 1948 and 1957, we lived in Bahía Blanca, and my maternal family lived in La Plata. We traveled Route 3 frequently between the two cities. Until two years ago, when I traveled it for the last time, it was the same as it had been in the 1950s, with a well-earned reputation as a very dangerous, truck-filled route. Obviously, the number of vehicles and vehicle speeds have increased enormously. Yesterday's terrible accident once again highlights how successive bad governments and corruption kill and ruin families.

The Pope and AI

Pope Leo XIV identifies artificial intelligence as the main challenge facing humanity today. The Church had already expressed itself on this issue in early 2025. Leo XIII promulgated the encyclical Rerum Novarum in 1891, at the time of the Industrial Revolution. It addresses the condition of the working classes and the role of the Church in social matters. The complexity of the subject, its unlimited boundaries, and its impact on the individual and humanity as a whole would justify the new pope, Leo XIV, promulgating another encyclical, which could be called Rerum Novisimarum ("of things new or very recent"). This is simply a personal reflection of a Catholic physician who uses and is familiar with artificial intelligence, and its eventual development and spread, which will require clear ethical guidelines.

Inheritance

I recently learned that people who live together in apparent marriage, as a couple (formerly known as concubinage), and who in our country are called "common-law unions," do not inherit from each other. I don't understand the reason for their exclusion from inheritance, when cohabitants have the same rights as spouses, according to the new Civil and Commercial Code, which has been in effect for more than ten years, especially when the cohabitation is long-standing. I believe we are faced with an incongruity that doesn't match the reality of hundreds of Argentine men and women who live together today.

Healthy Revolution

I'm writing to you with the intention of sharing a personal transformation that might shed light on the benefits of a health-focused lifestyle change. My story is a testament to the impact a conscious decision can have on our quality of life and our resources.

Diagnosed with hypertension and type 2 diabetes, weighing 93 kg, in just three months I've experienced a revolution in my health. Thanks to adopting a low-carb diet with a strong ketogenic leaning and incorporating a daily one-hour walk, my weight has dropped to 83 kg, my triglycerides have drastically normalized (from 385 to 50 mg/dL), and, most significantly, I've been able to discontinue medication for both conditions under my doctor's supervision. This radical change has not only restored my vitality and a sense of control over my well-being, but has also generated significant financial savings. I've also recovered valuable hours previously lost in doctor visits and waiting rooms.

My experience shows that investing time and effort in one's health through proper nutrition and regular exercise is a profitable decision in multiple ways. I hope my testimony serves as encouragement to those readers who face similar challenges and still can't see a path to a healthier and more independent life. With the right information and appropriate medical guidance, transformation is possible.
