Pope Francis approves the canonization of Venezuelan José Gregorio Hernández
VATICAN CITY.- This Tuesday, the Holy See announced that, during his hospitalization at the Agostino Gemelli polyclinic , Pope Francis approved the decree for the canonization of the Venezuelan Blessed José Gregorio Hernández Cisneros , making him the first saint of Venezuela .
Pope Francis signed the decree during a visit by the Vatican Secretary of State , Pietro Parolin , and the deputy Secretary of State , Venezuelan Edgar Peña Parra .
