Same-sex couples can obtain a mortgage through Infonavit Unamos Créditos

During LGBTIQ+ Pride Month , the Dinero.MX platform reminds us that same-sex couples can acquire their own homes through the Infonavit Unamos Créditos program.

He explained that the National Workers' Housing Fund Institute (Infonavit) offers the option of applying for a loan as a couple, even if they are not married. "This allows you to buy a home of higher value and in a better location.

Alejandro Sena , the app's general manager, noted that "in 2025, the LGBTIQ+ community continues to face significant barriers to accessing financial services. However, when it comes to mortgage loans, there are some options that can help them... secure their assets."

He emphasized that for people who are part of the LGBTIQ+ community and who don't know what mortgage loans they can access as a couple, there is the Infonavit option and also the FOVISSSTE spousal loan.

In the latter, through ISSSTE, joint or spousal loans are also offered . To access this option, you must meet the requested requirements and be a same-sex couple. This does not constitute a cause of discrimination.

Currently, several banks in Mexico offer joint loans that allow two people, including same-sex couples, to combine their incomes to access a larger loan amount. However, the requirements vary for each bank, so we recommend requesting more information from your preferred institution.
