Sheinbaum highlights 28.7% reduction in intentional homicides in the country

This Tuesday, the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo , highlighted the decrease in intentional homicide in the country, thanks to the various operations that have been carried out throughout the territory in order to safeguard the integrity of the population.

The above was announced by the president according to preliminary figures from 2018 to February 24 of this year, which show a 28.7 percent reduction in this type of crime at the national level.

If we take into account the average number of victims of intentional homicide per year, we have a reduction of 28.7% from 2018 to date. This is a very important figure for the Security Cabinet," said the head of State.

In this context, the head of the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP), Marcela Figueroa, confirmed the data provided by the President of the Republic and also detailed that from September 2024 to February 24, 2025, the crime of intentional homicide was reduced by 24.9 percent.

The downward trend in intentional homicides has decreased by 28.7 percent between 2018 and 2025. We highlight that 54.37 percent of homicides have been concentrated in seven states," said the official.

In addition to the above, the head of the SESNSP presented the list of entities where this type of crime is most concentrated:

• Guanajuato: 15.4%
• State of Mexico: 7.5%
• Baja California: 6.7%
• Sinaloa: 6.6%
• Michoacan: 6.5%
• Tabasco: 6.0%
• Sonora: 5.7%
