Shooting and chase in Jiutepec; six people arrested.

CUERNAVACA, Mor. (apro).- In broad daylight and in a residential area of the municipality of Jiutepec, a chase occurred that included an exchange of gunfire and culminated in the arrest of six armed men, police authorities reported.
The incident occurred shortly after noon on Wednesday, when residents of the Porvenir neighborhood reported the presence of two pickup trucks with armed individuals to the emergency number. Security officers responded to the scene, and when they attempted to arrest the occupants, a chase ensued.

During the escape, the occupants fired at the officers. One of the trucks—a black vehicle—ended up crashing into the wall of a house on Benito Juárez Street. At that point, six men were arrested, and several handguns were seized.
According to initial reports, the six detainees were carrying handguns and are part of a home robbery gang operating in the metropolitan area.
Three more people managed to escape and left a van abandoned in the Amador Salazar neighborhood of La Joya.
A second vehicle, a sand-colored Voyager, managed to escape. Although an operation was launched to locate it, its whereabouts have not been reported.
The incident, which occurred in a densely populated area in broad daylight, generated uncertainty among residents of the neighborhood. Although no injuries were reported, authorities have reinforced security in the area.
The detainees were transferred to Torre Morelos for their release.
Jiutepec is one of the metropolitan municipalities of Cuernavaca, located less than 10 kilometers from the capital of Morelos.
