The body of a Spaniard with a gunshot wound to the head was found in the Dominican Republic.

The body of a Spanish citizen was found inside his vehicle in a rural community in the northwest of the Dominican Republic, official sources reported Monday.
The deceased was identified as 59-year-old Spanish citizen Antonio Jiménez López. His body suffered a gunshot wound to the head, which caused his death, and Dominican authorities have begun an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident.
The body was found Sunday afternoon on the La Trujillista highway in the town of Damajagua, in the municipal district of El Maizal, in the province of Valverde.
Officials from the Public Ministry in that district said in a video that they cannot yet provide further details on the case because the investigation is just beginning.
Jiménez López was identified by locals as a Spanish tourist, although this has not been verified by authorities.
When questioned by EFE, the Dominican National Police's public relations department said it had no details about what happened.
