The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office of Mendoza delivered $74 million to hospitals, soup kitchens and community organizations

Since the implementation of the accusatory system in the jurisdiction of Mendoza on August 5, ATAJO has increased its interventions at the request of the Mendoza District Attorney's Office, headed by the Attorney General with coordination functions María Gloria André, according to information from the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Nation, according to a report presented by ATAJO, headed by Paulina Coto.
The report highlights that, between August and December of last year, there were 76 interventions at the request of the Initial Care, Simple Case Investigation and Transition areas of the various offices that make up the District Attorney's Office, in contrast to the 22 actions recorded during the first half of 2024.
On the other hand, they highlighted that the approximate amount collected in reparations obtained through alternative methods of conflict resolution - in accordance with article 22 of the CPPF - amounted to 74 million pesos , which were used to cover various needs of health centers and community organizations.
Of the 76 interventions, the most notable were the allocation of comprehensive repairs to public benefit entities in the departments of Capital, Godoy Cruz, Maipú, La Paz, Tupungato, Las Heras, Guaymallén and Tunuyán.
Thus, in Godoy Cruz, musical instruments and supplies were donated to the Youth Orchestra of the Center for Educational Activities ; basic materials and supplies were delivered to the Shelter for homeless people and problematic consumers ; its kitchen was equipped with appliances and computer equipment was provided to support the daily activities of the Retirement Center.
The Maipú Volunteer Firefighters Association also received a defibrillator, anti-trauma scissors, bandages, boxes of gloves and other materials for their work. Meanwhile, the public hospitals Carlos Saporiti (Rivadavia) and Las Heras (Tupungato) received critical supplies for their activity.
Finally, 106 pairs of top brand sneakers were donated to the community spaces of Godoy Cruz and the rural school of the Department of La Paz .
Also, another 550 pairs seized by Customs - in the context of a case for violation of Law 22,362 on Trademarks - were destined for community spaces in Capital, Guaymallén, Godoy Cruz, Las Heras and Tunuyán.
To carry out the task, the local ATAJO office coordinated with the different entities to facilitate the application of the probation and comprehensive reparation agreements . To do so, it prepared lists of territorial community spaces (churches, soup kitchens, snack bars, etc.) and public institutions (health centers, schools, and fire stations), in which it identified their critical needs, and which were made available to all areas of the Public Prosecutor's Office.
The institutions available - according to the profile of the accused, their addresses, etc. - were also identified so that the people affected by the suspension of the trial can carry out tasks in favor of the community.
In addition, they participated in the monitoring and assistance in the fulfillment of any reparations, and coordinated with the prosecutors of the case, the defense and the Directorate of Control and Assistance in Criminal Enforcement (DCAEP) of the Judiciary, the issues related to the execution and compliance of the rules of conduct duly established.
Intervention criteriaIn due course, following instructions from the prosecutor with coordinating functions of the Mendoza District Attorney's Office and at the proposal of the ATAJO Mendoza team, organizing criteria for the interventions were outlined.
Thus, the local ATAJO office intervened in 14 cases of accused persons with whom the suspension of the trial on probation was agreed , who carried out community service in Greater Mendoza, the Eastern zone and the Uco Valley. Within the framework of the agreements, the need for a comprehensive approach to their situations was considered, including places of residence, the need to resume formal studies and/or undergo treatment for problematic consumption of alcohol or prohibited substances.
Regarding the destination of comprehensive repairs, the framework of intervention adopted provides, firstly , to give priority to the cooperatives of the public hospitals of Greater Mendoza and surrounding departments , and then different provincial health centers were added.
Thus, repairs were allocated to the Dr. Humberto Notti Pediatric Hospital, the maternity ward of the Luis Lagomaggiore Hospital, the José Néstor Lencinas (Godoy Cruz), Victorino Tagarelli (San Carlos), Carlos Saporiti (Rivadavia), General Las Heras (Tupungato), Alfredo Italo Perrupato and Universitario (Maipú) hospitals, and the health centers N°150 Dr. Daniel Rebollo (Barrio La Gloria) and N°99 of the Department of San Carlos.
On the other hand, the criteria used to assign comprehensive repairs to canteens and snack bars, and given the impossibility of sustaining - through them - the provision of food, it was decided to strengthen or support the different socio-community activities or needs for operating supplies. This, to ensure the continuity of the presence in the territory, given that they function as spaces for social containment and community prevention of crime and protection of citizens.
