Trump nominated for Nobel Peace Prize for halting Iran-Israel war

U.S. Congressman Earl L. “Buddy” Carter formally nominated President Donald J. Trump for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize for his role in brokering a ceasefire between Israel and Iran.
In a letter to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Carter noted that Trump had successfully halted an escalation of war in the Middle East and prevented Iran—which he called the “largest state sponsor of terrorism ”—from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize?According to the document, dated June 24, Trump was instrumental in halting the armed conflict through a comprehensive cessation of hostilities agreement, which, it claims, saved thousands or even millions of lives.
"I am writing to formally nominate Donald J. Trump, 47th President of the United States, for the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his extraordinary and historic role in brokering an end to the armed conflict between Israel and Iran," the letter states.
Carter praised the president's leadership, crediting him with taking "bold and decisive actions" that, he said, embody the Nobel Prize-winning ideals of peace, war prevention, and international harmony.
The letter emphasizes that the agreement was reached quickly thanks to Trump's influence, in a context that many considered impossible to resolve diplomatically. "In a region plagued by historical enmities and political volatility, a breakthrough like this requires both courage and clarity. President Trump demonstrated both ," the letter states.
