Who is María Florencia Zicavo, the person appointed by the Government to investigate Milei for the $LIBRA case?
Javier Milei had said that he would instruct the Anti-Corruption Office (OA) to investigate him for the case $LIBRA . Now, through the Resolution 72/2025 , Milei appointed her as head of the team that will be in charge at the Executive level of the $LIBRA case, for which the President has already been denounced in the Justice of Argentina and also in the United States; in the meantime It already had its counterpart in Congress , with requests for interpellation and impeachment .
“It is established that the Investigation Tasks Unit (UTI) will be chaired by the head of the Ministry of Justice's Advisory Cabinet Unit , in order to comply with the provisions of Decree 114 dated February 20, 2025. The head of the Cabinet of Advisors Unit of the Ministry of Justice will be in charge of issuing the operational and complementary regulations provided for ," he determined. Cúneo Libarona - Zicavo's boss and Milei's minister - in the resolution published on Wednesday, which also details that this measure will not entail any budgetary outlay for the State.
In justifying the decision, the Ministry of Justice based its decision on that decree, 114/2025, which called on the Anti-Corruption Office to initiate the necessary investigations related to $LIBRA, "in order to determine possible irregularities or acts of corruption and, where appropriate, make the relevant complaints to the Judiciary."
Likewise, that decree had already created the UTI that Zicavo will now preside over, “with the aim of collecting information related to the cryptoasset, and collaborating quickly and expeditiously with the Judiciary and/or the Public Prosecutor's Office through the immediate submission of the documentation and information collected.”
The regulations also enable Zicavo to request information, data and documentation from officials, bodies and organizations of the public sector, as well as from provincial entities, the City, States and international organizations, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“The UTI will be in charge of receiving and managing the requests from the Judiciary and/or the Public Prosecutor's Office related to $LIBRA,” the Government defined in that article and indicated that the information arising from the investigation must be “preserved with the necessary security measures” to ensure its “unalterability” and to “prevent its unauthorized disclosure or disclosure.”
It is the Ministry of Justice of Cúneo Libarona that Milei has entrusted with issuing the operational and complementary norms (such as the resolution that designates Zicardi), in order to comply with the decree and provide “technical and administrative support” so that the UTI can carry out its functions.
