Last Thursday, July 24, María de Jesús Mundo, a 79-year-old woman, was found dead in the waiting room of the Puebla bus station. According to local media reports, she was originally from Mexico City but moved to Puebla.
One characteristic that made her popular among Internet users is that she spent several years of her life waiting for Víctor Manuel, Marina Guadalupe, or Alma, her three children, to come for her.
According to official reports, her death was due to natural causes. Witnesses claim they saw her so deteriorated that her body was no longer mobile.
It was this same sign that prompted the facility's staff to contact the emergency unit. Upon consulting with 'Telediario,' it was learned that when Red Cross paramedics arrived, the death was confirmed.

According to Excélsior, María de Jesús had been living in the terminal for over 20 years; however, media outlets such as N+ and Univisión claim it was between three and five. The exact number is imprecise, but it is known that she was homeless in her later years.
The woman is said to have had a strong temper. In fact, she was described as "grumpy." Furthermore, it is claimed that she had been experiencing health problems related to urinary tract infections and leg conditions.
N+ also highlights that the woman was married, but didn't want anything to do with her ex-partner, as he had let her down with someone else. This suggests that she felt better alone.
Thanks to a video released in 2024, the adult woman came forward. In that footage, she stated that one of her daughters, "Almita," told her she would come back for her and that she understood why it was taking so long.
However, Milenio reports that Mexican media outlets have published reports alleging that her daughter predeceased her. The reason for her death is that she allegedly tried to achieve the American dream but was unable to. The veracity of this claim has not yet been confirmed.
