The Chenel Cup race has been suspended: García Pulido and Álvaro Burdiel were injured in Alalpardo.

Alalpardo hosted the final bullfight of the qualifying phase of the Chenel Cup, a tough bullfight in which two protagonists ended up in the infirmary. Guillermo García Pulido , who came through as the first in the entire classification, was gored by the second bull of the afternoon in the right thigh as he went in for the kill. Two ears were awarded to the bullfighter, who was already in the infirmary, while Duende, from Monte La Ermita, was awarded a lap of honor.

According to Aplausos, the event had to be suspended during the intervention in the mobile infirmary, as the bullring was left without medical services. Once the bullfighter was transferred to the hospital, the bullfight continued. A good decision, as Álvaro Burdiel was soon admitted to the mobile hospital, injured in the same way as his companion: when he performed the suerte suprema (supreme pass) with the fifth bull, cutting off an ear. Given this situation, and for the same reasons that occurred after the fight with the second bull, it was decided to permanently suspend the event.

García Pulido's report reads: "Bull horn wound with two trajectories, totaling 25 cm, to the middle third of the right thigh, with no vascular involvement and no muscular involvement." The Sevillian's report, which was bleeding profusely, appears to be less serious, as he suffered a "wound to the inner side of the upper third of the right thigh with superficial involvement," with a mild prognosis.

A herd of bulls from Montealto and Monte La Ermita was being fought. This situation will not affect the third bullfighter, Juanito, either, since, as reported by the Chenel Cup: "The last bull, which was to be fought and killed by García Pulido and which Juanito was to be in charge of, no longer counted toward the competition's score." The Portuguese bull cut off an ear from the fourth bull.

Jorge Molina and Sergio Rodríguez have already reached the semifinals, having advanced as the best bullfighters in their phases, along with Daniel Crespo and Carlos Olsina. They await the two best bulls from this Alalpardo bullfight. The semifinals will take place on June 14 in Navas del Rey, with bulls from Aurelio Hernando and Montalvo, and on June 21 in Moralzarzal, against bulls from El Estoque and José Enrique Fraile de Valdefresno.
