For some time now, in several Chinese cities, citizens have been paying 32,000 pesos to receive a five-minute hug from a stranger and thus reduce their stress levels.
Details of the unique service were revealed by the South China Morning Post after many people shared their experiences on social media, making the situation a trending topic.

According to the outlet, women are the most frequent users of this option, and their preferences are always the same: men with an athletic appearance, fine features, and a gentle expression.
Furthermore, most hugs are provided by hired citizens in public places, especially subway stations and shopping malls, depending on the client's needs.
In this regard, the South China Morning Post explained that meetings to perform the service are initially held in private so as not to cause discomfort to either party.

One of the most important requirements is the person's personal appearance, so it's common for women requesting hugs to ask men to wear a little makeup, smell good, and have a suitable hairstyle to provide a better experience.
The most common reasons why some people seek a hug are frustration after a failed diet, long work days, problems with the boss, or academic pressure.

For their part, women who frequent these options emphasized that they feel more secure and at ease paying a certain amount , since they believe they will not have future problems.
Although this new trend seems quite unusual, China isn't the only country in the world where people can pay to get a hug and relieve stress. In Poland, there are similar sessions that adults between 40 and 60 years old attend to alleviate loneliness.
