Video | Reckless tractor-trailer nearly causes fatal accident: overtaking on double lanes

A video circulating on social media has sparked outrage, as it shows the reckless behavior of a tractor-trailer driver while attempting to overtake in an area where such maneuvers are prohibited due to the high risk they pose to drivers.

The footage has generated widespread criticism, as it shows the driver of a tractor-trailer trying to overtake on a shared road marked by double lines , narrowly missing a bus.

The exact location of this reckless traffic incident is unknown, as the man who recorded the incident, another tractor-trailer driver, did not specify which highway in the country he was able to record this reckless and irresponsible act of traffic.

The footage also shows the driver of a green tractor-trailer trying to overtake on a two-way road, just as he is descending a mountain. This attempt to overtake takes place in a dangerous area, as a bus suddenly appears, forcing the driver to make an unexpected maneuver to avoid a major accident.

“Going up the mountain. No, no, no, a bus is coming, no, hold it, my mule, my mule, oh my God! I'm going easy, I'm going at my own pace, I'm not going to stop for anyone,” says the driver who managed to capture the moment.

Although the maneuver didn't go any further, the social media coverage of this video has generated a wave of comments highlighting the recklessness and irresponsibility of the heavy-duty vehicle driver.

One of the most common traffic violations in Colombia is passing in areas prohibited by double yellow lines. The National Land Traffic Code establishes that the fine for this maneuver is 15 times the current daily legal minimum wage, which in 2025 corresponds to approximately 711,750 Colombian pesos.

Drivers who commit this type of violation may also receive penalties such as vehicle immobilization and loss of points on their driver's license.
