José Moreno Hurtado, known as Josele , a Sevillian artist who excelled as a musician and comedian , has died at the age of 81. He was known for the song "María Isabel," which he released with the group "Los Payos," which became a summer hit and one of the most important summer songs in Spanish history.
Josele had been hospitalized in the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville for several days after suffering from an illness that was diagnosed two years ago. He died around 4:00 a.m. on Saturday.
The artist began his solo career as a singer -songwriter in the 1960s, but achieved further fame as a member of Los Payos , along with Luis Moreno and Eduardo Rodríguez. When the group disbanded, he formed Yerbabuena , a comedy movement that fused comedy, music, and satire, alongside Paco Aguilar, exploring the fusion of rumba and Latin pop.
After music, he tried his hand at comedy , excelling with his monologue "Antonio, come to Spain, man" and recording joke tapes . He appeared on several television programs, which led him to film, and also dedicated himself to record production, supporting young talent.
His versatility also led him to become a sports commentator on the Canal Sur Radio program " El Pelotazo." He also told his life story on " My Memories Are Laughter."
