With marimba and heart: Leo Merchán presents 'Migrante'
Leo Merchán, a composer, singer-songwriter, and producer originally from Ibagué, has been dedicated to the folk music scene for nearly 20 years, representing the value of Colombian culture.
With this premise, Leo presents "Migrante," a single that alludes to putting down roots, but not exactly in a place as one might understand, but rather to those relationships in which the hope of building a future arises. "Sometimes you meet a love you want to stay with. A person with whom you want to project yourself and build," he confesses, speaking not only of the song but also of his story. And that's "Migrante," a reference to "wanting to stay, but knowing that's not the right person."
As an artist, Leo recognizes that music reflects his vulnerability because "it's where I capture those secrets and stories I need to feel at peace." That's why this single not only represents a love story, but also a promise. Months ago, Leo made a promise to his mother, who, before dying, told him, "I want to hear these songs recorded properly before I go."

Now, Leo Merchán will take folklore to the next level with a tour in Europe, where he will perform as a soloist playing the marimba chonta, one of Colombia's most important ancestral and indigenous instruments.
On stage, her musical experience and talent, which truly stem from her grandfather, a guitarist and member of the "Trío Sideral," will be reflected; her mother, who sang and danced tropical music; and, of course, her native Ibagué, where folk music was a part of her daily life.
Additionally, Leo is set to release a single in August, an EP in September, and will have a concert on August 3 at the Julio Mario Santo Domingo Major Theater in Bogotá.
