Searches for travel to Neiva during San Pedro grew 107 percent this year.
Neiva is on the radar of Colombian travelers, and the numbers confirm it. According to a recent analysis by Kayak, the travel metasearch engine, searches for flights to Neiva during the traditional San Pedro Festival increased by 107 percent compared to the same period last year.

This celebration, which blends religious and folkloric elements, is attracting more tourists not only locally but also internationally.
The platform examined round-trip economy class flights from any city in the country to Neiva, with dates between June 19 and July 1, and found that the average ticket price is 705,590 Colombian pesos.
But Neiva isn't the only destination gaining prominence this holiday season. Ibagué, the capital of Tolima, also saw a 19 percent increase in flight searches for this time of year.

The San Pedro Festival is also celebrated there, with cultural activities including masses, parades, dances, and traditional music. The average price of a flight to Ibagué during this same period is 558,458 Colombian pesos.
The 64th edition of the San Pedro Bambuco Festival, held in Neiva , stands out for its energy, color, and tradition. Visitors enjoy parades, folklore pageants, concerts, and the iconic Sanjuanero dance from Huila.
This increase in searches reinforces a clear trend: domestic cultural tourism is booming.
Traveler trends
Travel trends shared through a Booking.com study show that travel remains a priority for Colombians. According to the results, 66 percent of travelers in the country plan to allocate a higher budget for their trips in 2025 compared to 2024.
This trend is even more pronounced among Colombian millennials (aged 29-44), 67 percent of whom say they will increase their travel budget. Meanwhile, 65 percent of Gen Z (aged 18-28) and 63 percent of Gen X (aged 45-60) also expect to spend more money on their travels next year.
Families and couples lead the rise in tourism spending, with 67 percent of each group willing to spend more. In terms of trip type, international travelers lead the way, with 70 percent of Colombians planning higher budgets for outings , compared to 66 percent who will do the same for trips within Colombia.
Strategies to optimize spending
Although most travelers plan to spend more on their next vacation, some people are also looking to reduce their budget. Some of the main strategies for doing so include:
  • Plan ahead to get better prices (42 percent)
  • Choosing cheaper destinations (39 percent)
  • Take shorter trips (37 percent)
  • Traveling in the low season (27 percent)
  • Take advantage of free activities such as museums or guided tours (27 percent)

Younger travelers are also being strategic: 45 percent of Colombian Gen Zers plan to book farther in advance, and 51 percent of millennials prefer shorter trips.
