Agricultural Show: eighteen gold medals for Hauts-de-France in the general agricultural competition

Beers from the North and Pas-de-Calais rewarded at the Agricultural Show . While the largest farm in France opened on Saturday 22 February, fourteen gold medals were awarded by the general agricultural competition to twelve breweries in the region.
Created in 1870 to reward the best French regional products, the competition particularly distinguished blond beers, which won eleven of the fourteen golden distinctions.
Five of these medals were won by breweries from Pas-de-Calais, the winners of which were Brasserie Artésienne (Haisnes), Brasserie Castelain (Bénifontaine), EARL Ferme des Peupliers (Lacouture), Brasserie du Goulot (Wimereux) and Brasserie Goudale (Arques).
The other six medals for blond beers were awarded to breweries from the North: Motte-Cordonnier (Armentières), Mousserie (Cappelle-en-Pévèle), Malterie Cambrésienne (Cambrai), La Choulette (Hordain), Lilloise (Roncq) and twice to Pays Flamand (Merville).
Beyond the blond beers, the North won a gold medal for the white beer from the Brasserie Malterie Cambrésienne in Cambrai, as well as two awards for the hop-dominant beers from the Brasserie Moulins d'Ascq in Villeneuve-d'Ascq.
The North also stood out by winning the only gold medal in the eaux-de-vie category, awarded to the whisky from the TOS Distillerie in Wambrechies.
The success of Hauts-de-France does not stop at beers and whiskey. The region's cheeses also shone at the general agricultural competition.
Two AOP Maroilles cheeses from Aisne were awarded prizes, with first place going to Fromagers de Thiérache in Le Nouvion-en-Thiérache and Fromagerie Lesire et Roger in Mondrepuis.
The Somme also distinguished itself thanks to the fresh faisselle nature cheese from GAEC Saint Gérard in Saint-Fuscien.
