Argentine police officer sentenced for requisitioning prisoners for his wedding

An Argentinian police officer who requisitioned four inmates to work as cooks, waiters and cleaners at his wedding was found guilty of abuse of power on Monday.

Last year, the police officer allowed the four men to move freely to and from the wedding venue , about a block from the police cell where they were being held in the small town of Lonquimay, about 600 km from Buenos Aires, according to local press reports.

After the festivities, the men returned to their cells of their own free will , El Diario de La Pampa reported.

The police officer "was lucky that none of them escaped ," prosecutor Guillermo Sancho told the news website Infobae.

He was given a 15-month suspended prison sentence for abuse of authority
