Canneseries is over: here are our favorites from this 8th edition

There you go, it's over. It's not Jean-Louis Aubert, but that little ending song sounds like it.
As France 2's next international series, The Count of Monte Cristo , set the final evening of the Canneseries festival alight this Tuesday evening, with the awards ceremony unveiled in the preamble , it is time to take stock of six days of competition, screenings and meetings.
1. The series "Duster", coming soon to MaxTwo episodes discovered on the big screen of the Louis-Lumière auditorium - the series arrives on May 16 on Max - were enough to seduce us.
Josh Holloway, sexy chocolate, but also cars, a 1970s atmosphere, a plot that mixes humor and the Arizona mafia and the writing of JJ Abrams.
An explosive cocktail that captivated the audience and gave weight to the HBO studios' premiere at Canneseries.
2. The "Zonz" discoveryA short series from Slash, the youth channel of the France Télévisions group, about a group of young people in the juvenile section of a prison.
Filmed in the legendary Clairvaux prison, Zonz relies on a dense cast in which a group of young actors, all very talented, are supervised by established actors (Camille Chamoux, Tiphaine Daviot, etc.).
It's funny, subtle, and far from clichés, and the personal stories of each protagonist have a real resonance with current events. A truly wonderful discovery.
3. The presence of Jeffrey Dean MorganIn the battle of the salt and pepper hunks, Jeffrey Dean Morgan has what it takes to look George Clooney in the eye.
Present on the Croisette to accompany the preview of the second season of Dead City , a series derived from the universe of The Walking Dead , the actor splashed the pink carpet and the audience with his charisma and humor.
When you're a series festival, it's no small feat to have the actor who plays Negan in one of television's most iconic franchises on hand. A landmark arrival.
4. Questions from "A Better Place"A small slap in the face. A German creation centered around restorative justice, in which we follow the journey of four prisoners who regain freedom following the political will to open prisons in order to attempt a sociological and reintegration experiment, A Better Place questions from start to finish.
Led by a chilling Richard Sammel, this series explores the notions of rehabilitation, justice, forgiveness, anger, and grief. Canal+ is expected to broadcast the series soon.
5. Corsica with "Plaine Orientale"Did you like Mafiosa ? You'll love Plaine Orientale , a new original creation from Canal+, previewed during the festival and expected to hit your screens at the end of May. Creator Pierre Lecchia has surrounded himself with the cream of his island of beauty (Eric Fraticelli, Jean-Philippe Ricci, Jean-Marc Michelangeli) as well as a promising new generation embodied by the trio Raphaël Acloque-Lina El Arabi-Antonia Desplat to tell the current problems of the island of beauty between mafia, drug trafficking and racism. A classic but terribly authentic thriller.
And also...Beyond this top five, we have a special thought for some small discoveries: A la poursuite du rougail saucisses , a documentary series promised to Canal+ and carried by the crazy duo with contagious humor Manu Payet-William Lebghil; the series The Count of Monte-Cristo from France 2, a great twirling fresco; the second spicy and suave season of Escort Boys on Prime Video; or the Belgian series How to kill your sister .
M6's next creation too, with Marie Gillain and Arnaud Ducret, My Wife is a Spy; France 2's adaptation of Olivier Norek's book Surface with Laura Smet; not forgetting that nice moment with part of the cast of The Bureau des Légendes around the tenth anniversary of the broadcast of the first episode. Yeah, it was a great vintage.
And in the end, Norway sweeps the board. Or almost. Of the five awards presented this Tuesday evening at the closing of the Canneseries festival by the jury chaired by Jeff Russo, Norway took home four, with a double for A Better Man (Best Series, Best Performance). The story of a female web troll who is exposed by hackers and must dress... as a woman to hide. A satirical comedy starring Anders Baasmo.
The other big winner is also Norwegian, as Nepobaby won two awards (Best Screenplay and Special Performance Award) for this story centered around Emma (Vivild Falk Berg), who suddenly discovers that she belongs to one of Norway's most powerful dynasties.
South Korea also won the award for Best Music for S Line. In the short format, the Belgian series Oh, Otto! won twice for this drama set in Brussels' queer community.
