Joseph Kamel, Stephane, Superbus, Gilbert Montagné… This summer, Bénodet will once again attract crowds with its free concerts overlooking the sea

Every year for over 25 years , the municipality of Bénodet (Finistère), in partnership with the Barrière de Bénodet casino, has offered locals and holidaymakers free concerts on a remarkable site, facing the sea, with a view of the Glénan and the Odet. It's hard to dream of anything better.

Big stars like Arno, Magic System, Lio, Julian Perretta, Patrick Sébastien, and many others have performed on this stage, delighted to be able to breathe in the salty air while singing. These concerts are also an opportunity for many to get together with family or friends.

Josiane and Bernadette, two friendly septuagenarians, come every year for one or even two concerts. They choose the date together and are equipped for all situations. "If it rains, we have umbrellas and raincoats. We don't forget our blankets to sit on the grass of the hill. We usually bring our picnic, but sometimes we eat on site, crepes or sausages."

The two childhood friends don't mind mingling with the crowd at the end of the concert to get the star's autograph. Some come just for that, and watch for the artists in the afternoon when they're rehearsing. That way, they have a better chance of getting their idol's signature. We also come as a family, with the youngest, who will spend the evening perched on Dad's shoulders, much to the dismay of the people behind.

But ultimately, there's little grumbling during these evenings. It's the holidays, after all, and music soothes the soul. The concerts are also well-supervised by the security services and the gendarmerie, not to mention the many volunteers who ensure logistics. The choice of the program falls to the mayor, Christian Pennanech, and the general manager of the Barrière Casino in Bénodet, Corinne Thépot.

We have to succeed in satisfying all audiences and offer artists who don't play at every summer festival. And also vary the pleasures and the artists, even if some, like Collectif Métissé or Magic System, have already played several times, always attracting a large crowd. The sure values of the summer.

This year, young and old alike will be able to enjoy themselves to their heart's content. The first concert will take place this Monday, July 14th. And, to celebrate the Bastille Day, the Thierry Tacinelli company will present its new show entitled "Life is Beautiful." A fireworks display will be set off around 10:30 p.m., weather permitting.

On Friday, July 25, the band Brin d'Zinc, with its singer Paul'O, will be the opening act, followed by Joseph Kamel . On Friday, August 1, the opening act will be dedicated to the band Queen with "Kind of Queen Tribute", followed at 10 p.m. by the singer Stéphane . For its big comeback, the band Superbus will be on stage on August 15. And, to end in the tropics, on Friday, August 22, after an opening act provided by Aurélien Vivos, the winner of the 12th season of "The Voice" (2023), we will all love each other with Gilbert Montagné. It is advisable to come early. A beautiful summer in perspective.
