Lunéville. Music Festival: Ears are filled with good sound throughout the city

Barely past 6 p.m., the first drumstick strokes slammed on a drum kit and echoed through the city center. On Rue Sadi-Carnot, the seven-piece bands Ugly Ducks and Kustom Rock'n Co are gathered for this music festival this Saturday, June 21, 2025. They're already giving it their all with their hard-blues rock repertoire, with disco-pop covers rearranged with a rock twist. "This is our 23rd edition," says Jean-Phi, the singer of both groups, before tackling a well-known Lenny Kravitz song featuring prominent guitars. He then moves on to a Johnny Hallyday hit. At the top of Rue de la République, under the arcades, the band Folk à flots is performing, mainly with guitars and accordions. "Many musicians come from Blainville-sur-l'Eau," explains one of the many dancers present. Further down, the sound of the DJ set up at the Rock Café can be heard. Facing the castle, we hear the song "Beds are burning" by Australian band Midnight Oil for a second time, this time covered by the band Hangover at the Stanislas bar. We'll hear it for a third time on rue Sadi-Carnot... People are sitting at tables all over the area. Some are listening to the music of the bands Amigos Rumba and IF at the Seventhéen coffee.
At Place Saint-Rémy, the string quartet has just finished its performance. "It was really good," commented a couple. A louder sound rises from the Petit Trianon, where the DJ in place gets the audience moving around him. At the Yutopia association's third venue, the players were also listening attentively to the rhythm of the music played by the DJ on the decks.
On Rue Banaudon, the iconic Ex-Symbols performed in front of a parade of passersby and people sitting and eating in the street. As for Place Léopold, it filled up as the musical evening progressed. A zumba session took place before the musicians of the Woodstock Revival band arrived in the center of the square. After the first song, singer Jeff announced to the audience, already in a hippie mood: "We only cover songs sung at Woodstock." "They're good. I know Jeff," assured Bruno, guitarist of one of the bands based on Rue Sadi-Carnot, just before launching into a ZZ Top song. "It's a good music festival this year," said a satisfied visitor.

Lunéville - The Bonys enjoy the good weather
"We were supposed to play last year for this same music festival, but we had to cancel due to the weather," says Sacha, president of the Bony's group association. The band is playing for the first time this year, on June 21st in front of the Orangerie media library, on the park side.
"We're two years old this year, and we've been an association for a year." All the musicians and singers are graduates of the Lunéville music school. "The oldest is Dominique, on lead guitar. He originally created the group. We had songs in common. We started playing a few of them between us, and it took off," continues the drummer president.
Rock and pop repertoire"The hottie (BG), Rémi, is on second guitar. Thomas, also a BG, plays bass." The two "vocal divas" are Gaïa and Emma. Stéphanie, bassist but not keen on performing, provides support for the group.
The latter plays a rock and pop repertoire. "We perform well-known covers as well as others from more confidential groups." This Saturday, Noir Désir, Arctic Monkeys, ACDC, Muse, Oasis… were on the program for the approximately two-hour concert. "We all have a musical background with different tastes, but all the songs we play are selected together. They have to appeal to everyone," explains Sacha. The group's age range goes from 16 to 62.
The Bonys also play in bars in Lunéville and elsewhere from time to time. "We're making our own way musically. We're self-sufficient. We hope to do a little composing." "I've already started," adds Thomas.
But, for their concert opener this Saturday, they started with the cover of Time me out by Franz Ferdinand.

Lunéville - First steps on stage for young singers
In the courtyard of the Jonquilles leisure center, this Saturday afternoon, residents of the Niedrebronn-Zola neighborhood, seated with their families in the shade of small trees, listen to the voice of Cathy, from the group Azerca. She has just played the songs Bella and Cendrillon . Her partner, Eric, is at her side, at his keyboard. The third member of the group, Aziz Faïq, normally plays the cajon. "I also represent the Espace citoyen lunévillois association, of which I am president," he says.
"We are partners, with ASAL, for this open stage on the occasion of the music festival."
"We'll take care of the snacks. We chose the afternoon for this event so that participants could enjoy the musical evening in town," explains Martine Gafour, director of ASAL.
Aziz Faïq adds: "We will be offering a mini-concert of Arabic and French varieties with songs like Aïcha or On écrit sur les murs , until 6 p.m. We will then move to Place Léopold, guitar in hand... Young people have also planned to sing songs by Gims, Ciel , and once again Bella , Le clown by Soprano..."
Kenza, from ASAL, also wants to take to the stage. "I'm going to sing Mimi by Jul. It's the first time I'm going to sing in public, but I'm not afraid."
