Monaco Philharmonic: Pianist Maria-Joao Pires Ill, Jussen Brothers to End Season on Sunday

The Philharmonic's season was scheduled to conclude on Sunday with the highly anticipated appearance of the great pianist Maria-Joao Pires. Due to illness, the artist was forced to cancel all of her concerts.
Mozart's concerto for three pianos, which she was to play with his disciples, the brilliant Jussen brothers, will therefore be given in a version for two pianos (a version written by Mozart himself) which will be performed by the Jussen brothers alone.
In addition, this concert, conducted by the excellent Czech conductor Tomas Nepotil, will allow us to hear Schubert's divine 5th Symphony as well as the beautiful work "Prohadka" by Czech composer Josef Suk. This work, inspired by a Czech tale, evokes with charm and lyricism the story of two young lovers who thwart the spells of an evil mother. It is in this atmosphere of tale and legend that the magnificent season of the Philharmonic will end.
Sunday, 6 p.m. Rainier III Auditorium. Prices: €18 to €36. Information: 92.00.13.70. 5 p.m. presentation of the works.
