Music Festival and Top 14 semi-finals: the City of Lyon deploys a major security operation

Music Festival and Top 14 semi-finals: the City of Lyon deploys a major security operation

Between the Fête de la Musique and the Top 14 semi-finals, the City of Lyon is mobilizing a significant effort to guarantee the safety of the thousands of visitors expected this Saturday, June 21.

Lyon is preparing to experience an exceptional evening this Saturday, June 21, with two major events: the Fête de la Musique and the Top 14 semi-finals. A large crowd is expected, particularly on the Presqu'île, where thousands of people are expected to travel to enjoy the free concerts.

In response to this dual festive and sporting event, the City of Lyon will deploy a significant security presence, supporting state forces under the authority of the Rhône Prefecture. More than 65 municipal agents, police officers, and ASVPs will be deployed to monitor and supervise gatherings. Around twenty municipal vehicles will also participate in securing sensitive areas and implementing traffic closures. The municipal command post (PC Crise) will be activated at 2 p.m. this Saturday, in direct contact with the national police to coordinate interventions in real time.

In order to prevent any disturbance of public order, the City has issued several municipal decrees prohibiting, in particular, the consumption of alcohol on public roads, the use of fireworks, the possession of glass containers and unauthorized sound systems.

A security perimeter will be established starting at 4 p.m. in the northern sector of the peninsula. This perimeter will coincide with the implementation of the Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL) this Saturday, June 21.

At the same time, the National Rugby League has set up its "Rugby Village" at Place Bellecour, where fans can experience the semi-finals in a festive atmosphere. This site benefits from a specific security system, provided by the LNR with the support of the Prefecture and the City of Lyon.
