Nancy. At the theater, at church, in bars, on foot or by bus: everything about the Fête de la Musique.

Nancy. At the theater, at church, in bars, on foot or by bus: everything about the Fête de la Musique.

On this Fête de la Musique day, singers and musicians will of course take over the terraces of bars and restaurants, as usual. But music will also be playing in theaters, parks, and even churches. Examples include Nancy, with this (non-exhaustive) selection of lively venues on this first day of summer.

The Fête de la Musique promises, as usual, all styles and in very varied locations! Archive photo Cédric Jacquot

Located at the foot of Avenue de la Libération, the Théâtre de la Foucotte (on the street of the same name) is more accustomed to plays and acting workshops. But this June 21, the 245-seat performance hall will celebrate music from 7 p.m. to midnight, featuring performances by the group Les Fougères (songs by authors and covers) and karaoke sessions. As a bonus, a guinguette is planned in the garden (free admission, light refreshments available).

The MVOSL association (Vallin Furniture and Saint-Léon Organ) was founded a little over two years ago to provide cultural activities centered around Vallin furniture and the organ of the Saint-Léon IX church (No. 24 rue Saint-Léon). It is in this place of worship that it invites you to listen, from 8:30 p.m., to compositions combining organ, brass (trumpets, trombones, etc.) and songs. Free admission.

In addition to the largest and best-known park, the Pépinière, near Place Stanislas , several public parks in Nancy will each be vibrant in their own way. Sainte-Marie Park will host, under its bandstand from 8:30 p.m., the three choirs (women's, men's, and mixed) of the Faridol choir.

The Olry, Blondlot and Cure d'Air parks, which all house a summer guinguette, will also have their groups, as will the three other guinguettes: Place Carnot, Porte de la Craffe and Plage des Deux Rives.

Sound, whatever it may be, is their reason for being... So the venues usually dedicated to music will stay in time, notably L'Autre canal. The concert hall on Boulevard d'Austrasie will offer a program that it describes as "local, lively and inclusive", namely: 4 p.m., Kalifa & France Horizons; 4:45 p.m., Lisko & Croc Espace; 5:45 p.m., Dopamin' group; 6:30 p.m., Serwan; 8:30 p.m., Marwane au Nord Est; 9:15 p.m., The Fireflies; 10 p.m., Yume; 11 p.m., Alice & Dolores.

Still on Boulevard d'Austrasie, the Ostra Club will be going into solidarity mode with a "white night" hosted from midnight by several DJs, the profits of which will be donated to the Secours Populaire de Meurthe-et-Moselle. Finally, the Grand Nancy Conservatory (1-3, rue Michel-Ney) will launch its party from 1:30 p.m. (with its percussion ensemble), with various instrumental performances continuing until 4:25 p.m., for a finale under the sign of contemporary dance (free entry subject to availability).

The perimeter of the festival in the city center will be limited in terms of car traffic.

Free buses, restricted parking and traffic

As every Saturday (and Sunday), Stan ( Trolley du Grand Nancy ) network buses will be free for anyone wishing to travel to Nancy city centre or to various sites hosting this Fête de la Musique. Some lines will obviously be diverted due to the inevitable traffic restrictions in the city centre.

Thus, it will be prohibited to drive (except for police vehicles, emergency vehicles and those of the organization with authorization) from Saturday June 21 at 7 p.m. to Sunday June 22 at 5 a.m. in the perimeter encompassing the nursery park, a section of rue Saint-Dizier and a large part of the old town sector. Namely: between on the one hand, cours Léopold and rue des Quatre Églises, and on the other hand boulevard du 26 R.-I and rue des Jardiniers. Diversions and two-way traffic are planned in the surrounding area.

Furthermore, parking will be prohibited from Saturday 12 p.m. to Sunday 5 a.m. in many streets in the city center and the old town, with the pound being mobilized to remove any cars that cause problems.

Please also note the closure of two car parks (Vaudémont and Stanislas): access will be prohibited from 6 a.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday (vehicles previously parked inside these car parks will be able to leave until 7 p.m. Saturday at the latest).

Concerts, highlights and good spots in Pont-à-Mousson

In Pont-à-Mousson, the Fête de la Musique will not have a specific stage and will be spread out across the town.

Thus, at Place Duroc, Le Passe-temps will welcome the band Rock'n'Box, ready to revive the Mussipont scene, starting at 6 p.m., with their raw energy and wild riffs. For the occasion, the bar team will be offering sandwiches and has provided plenty of seating on the terrace.

Just a stone's throw away, near the Concorde boutique, singer Alexandra will host a karaoke session starting at 7 p.m. The event will take place inside the boutique.

Over on Place Thiers, the evening will be divided into two parts at the Belle époque bar-restaurant. Starting at 6 p.m., the group Tout corps d'état, formed by teachers from the Marquette school group, will get the crowd going before handing over the stage to DJ Erol, who will take over the decks to keep them dancing until closing time. As for the food, the team is focusing on conviviality with a barbecue and crispy fries.

In the green on the island of Esch

As for the music school, students will take turns performing on the stage set up on Boulevard de Riolle. The island of Esch will not be left out in terms of entertainment. The Franco-Portuguese Sports and Cultural Union will launch and organize the second drumming rally followed by the Saint-Jean bonfire.

Finally, Winston Churchill Square will also have its own stage. A mix of French music, rock blues, and performances by young children will take place starting at 5:30 p.m.

Other events will take place in different parts of the city that evening as well.

Radio Fajet celebrates its 40th anniversary with seven hours of open-air concerts in Jarville and on the airwaves

Live from the Kiosque de Jarville, all the live music played this Saturday, June 21, will be broadcast simultaneously on Radio Fajet. The occasion is special: the radio station is taking advantage of this symbolic date to celebrate once again this year its 40 years of free broadcasting . Installed on the frequency 94.2, the voices of this community radio station emerge from their studio on rue Charles-III to anchor themselves even more strongly in their local environment.

The Jarville event will provide an opportunity to put faces to the voices of Aurélie Sinnes, François Barthélémy, and Valentin Esnault, who are regulars on the air. It will also be an opportunity to highlight behind-the-scenes figures like Fabienne Marchal, the general manager, Yves Antoine, the programming manager, and Jean-Luc Carl, the technical manager, and to meet the members of the local workshops and music groups that bring the airwaves to life.

On site, the team hopes to get to know listeners better and also meet up with former and current volunteers who have helped the local radio station cultivate its local side.

DJ set on 40 years of music

The afternoon program features a near-continuous stream of concerts from 5:30 p.m. to midnight, or seven hours of non-stop music.

To open the festivities, the organizers are counting on two "made in Fajet" groups: Léa, Agathe and Jimmy in a trio with Creole accents, then Maude and Alex in a duo paying homage to French variety. Between the two, the choir Je suis féministe will take the microphone, then Way of Five with its soul jazz-funk, Romy in a pop rock-country duo, Death by Selfie with its French electro "turfu". To finish, DJ AD will perform in a general DJ set that will go back 40 years of music history through hits from the 80s to current music.

Also on the program is a refreshment and catering area around the Kiosk.

Saturday, June 21, from 5:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., at the Kiosk, 15 rue du Maréchal-Foch in Jarville-la-Malgrange. Free admission.

Toul: all musical styles, from the city center to Place Saint-Mansuy

Summer isn't just celebrated in downtown Toul on June 21. Music lovers can stroll along Avenue Victor-Hugo, at the port, at the Atelier third-place, behind the Arsenal hall, as well as at Place Saint-Mansuy.

Opposite Saint-Etienne Cathedral, on Place Charles-de-Gaulle, the Au Bouchon wine bar will host a DJ.

Another DJ is scheduled for the France bar on Place Ronde. Opposite, the Beffroi will host a rock concert.

Not far away, on Rue de la République, a DJ will be hosting the evening at the Audace bar.

Leaving Place Ronde, head towards Rue de Lattre-de-Tassigny, where the Fabrik de Tom store will be playing a selection of music. The City's employees' leisure committee will have a stand on this street.

A few meters away, the Chantemai choir will perform at the Saint-Gengoult collegiate church, one of whose entrances opens onto the Place du Couarail.

This is where the Fiesta restaurant invited two rock bands: Everlead and So Watt.

Another atmosphere on rue Gambetta, with a concert by the Lyre Touloise in front of the Spar store.

Strolling along Rue Thiers, the end of which, at the corner of Place du 19-Mars-1962, features a DJ at the Soleil d'Or bar.

Continuing along Avenue Victor-Hugo, the Kont'nr and Cubana bars will offer two different atmospheres, the first with a DJ, the second with its own musical selection.

Nearby, at the port, the Quai 156 restaurant will host the Delfolie music school gala.

Behind the Arsenal hall, the third-place l'Atelier will vibrate to the sounds of rock and punk with Irène and her kittens, Douleurs exquises, Teens Spirit Experience and Bambou.

The journey continues to Place Sant-Mansuy with three groups: Addic'son, Digiac and TV phone.

A varied program in all parts of the city and plenty to eat.
