LE FIGARO INFO - The French artist and academic has chosen the ancient city to create his foundation, long envisioned in his hometown of Toulouse. An ambitious personal project, the secret of which he reveals to us.
The Rencontres d'Arles 2025 begins next week. And already, the geography of Arles promises to change again, at the beginning of July 2026. Artist and academic Jean-Marc Bustamante promises to create a metamorphosis by transforming the Collatéral, a venue well-known to festival-goers for its wild spaces and mixed events, in the La Roquette district, into the refined and contemporary Bustamante Foundation. After intensive work led by architect and designer Charles Zana, the entire interior of what was once the Sainte-Croix church, a former parish church mentioned as early as the 12th century located at 20 Place Joseph Patrat, rebuilt in 1720 and sold as national property during the Revolution, will be converted into a vast exhibition space, more than 650 m2 divided into 5 exhibition rooms, three large platforms and two more intimate spaces, on three floors.
