Skip the adAriana Grande will perform alongside Cynthia Erivo at the 97th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood. The two actresses, nominated for their roles in Wicked, are expected to open the broadcast with one or more songs. Some options include songs like "Popular," "Defying Gravity," "What Is This Feeling?" or a compilation of them. The songs from Wicked were not eligible for the best song award because, being from the Broadway musical, they were not original to the film.
But that's not all, singers Doja Cat, Lisa from Blackpink , Queen Latifah and Raye will also participate in "spectacular performances celebrating the film community and some of its legends" during the Oscars telecast, as announced by the producers. According to The Hollywood Reporter , the show will also feature a special appearance by the Los Angeles Master Chorale.

The musical Wicked garnered 10 Oscar nominations this year, including Best Picture, Best Original Score and several technical nominations. If Erivo wins an Oscar on Sunday, she will achieve EGOT status, joining fewer than 30 performers who have each won Emmys, Grammys, Oscars and Tony Awards.
