Birth rate: French government plans to open 30 new egg conservation centers

Around forty centers are currently authorized to carry out this procedure.
"Thirty new centers have already been authorized or will be by 2027," she added, "the goal is to have them in almost all regions," without giving further details on their geographical distribution.
According to Catherine Vautrin, the need to freeze eggs is "exploding" due to the "postponement of the reproductive age." This measure aims to combat infertility and support the French birth rate, at a time when the number of annual births (663,000 in 2024) is at its lowest since the end of the Second World War.
To combat infertility, Catherine Vautrin is also focusing on "prevention and information." "I hope that every French person, in their 29th year, will receive a message from the Health Insurance on these topics," she announced. The government also plans to include the topic of reproductive health in the prevention assessment offered to 18- to 25-year-olds. The aim will be to provide information on this topic and identify "a potential risk factor for infertility." The content of fertility assessments will be updated.
