Blood donation: positive results

As the summer break begins to draw to a close, residents of Wassy and surrounding villages are beginning to get back into the swing of things by participating in blood drives, for example. With this in mind, the Blaise Valley Blood Donor Association, in partnership with the blood transfusion center, set up shop at the Wassy Market Halls on Thursday, August 14, from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
For this back-to-school session, the association's volunteers noted that 47 donors came forward and 40 received blood samples. They also noted that five new blood donors took this step, which is a rather good omen. For the organizers of the collection, these figures are encouraging because the target was 39 donors, a goal that was largely exceeded, despite excessive heat combined with the long weekend of August 15.
Satisfied with these results, the association's leaders and the health professionals at the blood transfusion center expressed their thanks to all those who volunteered for this humanitarian act, as well as to the municipality and technical services for making the halls available. The next collection will take place in October, at the Brousseval community center.
Blood drives are made possible by a highly motivated team.
