From this Saturday, the day center will open its doors at the Dracénie Hospital Center

This Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the open day will take place at the therapeutic day center of the Dracénie Hospital Center (CHD) , located in Malmont. A structure dedicated to the care of twelve patients aged over 60, suffering from a degenerative cognitive disease such as, among others, Alzheimer's. An event organized as part of the anniversary of the branch, created fifteen years earlier.

The day care center for the elderly is a service, active from Monday to Friday, managed by Dr. Valentine Bouzereau and nurse Marie-Ange Boulbes, as well as a psychologist and caregivers specialized in gerontology. "We offer specific support and care with friendly cognitive and sensory stimulation workshops," it is stated in the service's presentation brochure. "The goal is to maintain autonomy."

A service that can be financed by aid

The work of this service is not limited to patients, who can participate in many activities such as "gardening, motor skills workshops, well-being, aromatherapy, themed or cultural outings or picnics". "We also offer support and guidance to caregivers through our listening skills and the time freed up" , it is explained.

"The goal of this open day is to introduce the reception and its operation to as many people as possible," the hospital's communication states. While day care has many benefits, it comes at a cost, which is the patient's responsibility, with "rates set annually."

However, there are many conditional aids available, such as the personalized autonomy allowance (APA). "The departmental council can contribute to paying part of the daily cost," it states. The Department can also liaise with the Communal Social Action Center (CCAS) and the Local Gerontological Information and Coordination Center (CLIC) on which the patient depends.

An awareness day open to as many people as possible

"The day will unfold as follows: the public will be welcomed in a multidisciplinary manner ," explains Marie-Ange Boulbes. "The secretaries will explain the administrative procedures, the psychologist will present the patient's admission criteria and the follow-up carried out at the reception desk. Then, the nursing assistants will detail the workshops offered throughout the year," she explains.

"Activities will be offered to visitors, as well as a buffet for relaxed conversation," she concludes. "We will adapt to the people who come. Our main goal is to raise awareness among as many people as possible."
