Lure. Blood donation: a local cuts short his vacation to participate in the collection.

A mobilization that shows no signs of slowing down. In Lure, the French Blood Establishment (EFS) organizes six blood drives per year . The one on Monday, August 11, met its goal for the fourth time this year: 120 registered donors. "It's a good drive for August, there are a lot of people," said Alicya Mubiayi, supervisor of the drive, which took place from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the community hall. To donate blood, the rules are simple but strict. You must weigh more than 50 kg, have a good blood test, never have had an IV drip, and be under 70 years old. A team of trained doctors and nurses are on hand to verify the suitability of each volunteer.
The donation itself only takes about ten minutes, but it takes an hour to complete the questionnaire, complete the pre-tests, and then enjoy a snack to recover. A team of six volunteers was on hand to support people after the operation. "Anyone can do it if their health allows it," says Alicya Mubiayi.
Drago, 65, knows the procedure well. This lad has donated blood more than a hundred times. "You have to do it, even if it hurts a little," he smiles. This year again, he came back early from vacation so as not to miss the blood drive. "I was afraid I wouldn't be able to donate because I had a booster shot not long ago, but it turned out to be no problem." The experience has taught him one thing: "People often realize the importance of donating when they need it themselves," he concludes.

Among the participants, there are more and more young people. Justine, 25, is an example. A loyal donor, she has already given blood three times but was unable to participate this time. "I'm iron deficient," explains the young woman. "This is the first time I've been unable to donate, but as soon as I can, I'll come back. If I can help, I will."
