Lyon: a class action civil complaint will soon be filed against Arkema and Daikin in the PFAS case

Nearly 500 residents of southern Lyon have decided to take legal action against Arkema and Daikin over their contamination with perennial pollutants.
In a move unprecedented in Europe, legal action against Arkema and Daikin will be launched in Lyon, according to the media outlet 20 Minutes . Nearly 500 residents of southern Lyon have decided to sue the two companies. They accuse Arkema and Daikin of contaminating them with perennial pollutants in the PFAS scandal.
A mass action, the proceedings of which are being led by the association "Notre affaire à tous," the collective "PFAS contre terre," and the Kaizen law firm. The action aims to bring together the various victims whose lives have potentially been impacted by these eternal pollutants. According to the lawyer in the case, interviewed by 20 Minutes, 220,000 residents of southern Lyon are affected.
The goal of this class action lawsuit is to make the two companies pay for the various damages caused. These include the physical and mental health problems caused, as well as the loss of property value in the area. As a reminder, the case was already brought before the courts last March by the "Notre affaire à tous" collective. While the Court of Cassation then decided to dismiss the criminal summary proceedings, it remains to be seen whether it will do the same with this civil action.
