Mommenheim. Sunday, August 24, everyone on the move for Nathan, who has Angelman's disease.

On Sunday, August 24, the Pour l'Amour 2 Nathan association invites everyone to "En route pour Nathan." Numerous activities are planned, including vintage car and motorcycle rides. The goal: to raise money to fund the treatment of the young boy, who suffers from Angelman's disease.
After " Mommenheim en fête " on Sunday, August 3, the smart tithe barn will once again serve as the setting for an event now included in the town's calendar of events: " On the way to Nathan ."
The association created by Madeline and Alexandre Schneider, the young boy's parents, is organizing the fourth edition of a party whose objective is to raise money to finance stays in care centers and specialized equipment for Nathan, who suffers from Angelman syndrome, a rare neurogenetic disease.
Two treatment stays in sightTwo stays are planned, one in October in Saint-Malo for brain stimulation, the other in February in a specialized center in Belfort to work on behavior. The total cost of the two weeks of care is €6,500. "Today, Nathan refuses to walk; he's very scared. He took four steps on his own before the holidays, but at the Essentis rehabilitation center in Barcelona, he cried a lot. So we're going to try to allay his fears," explains Madeline. The family would also like to purchase a specialized double stroller, which will cost €6,000.
The 5.5-year-old boy, who is in fragile health and has nearly ten medical appointments each week, has experienced several difficult episodes this year: an ear infection that went wrong in April, leading to a week-long hospitalization and eight days of treatment, and a week of severe fever in early July. Today, he communicates using a tablet, images, and gestures. "He can be very gentle with his sister, who is very attentive to him and cuddles him. But that's when he wants to; he can be very stubborn!" adds Madeline.
