Car hits 9-year-old boy: yet another accident in Milan

Car hits 9-year-old boy: yet another accident in Milan

It's a bad day for road accidents in Milan. After the serious incident involving an eleven-year-old boy , who was left in a coma by a van that struck him on Via Bernardino Verro at 5:30 PM, another child—nine years old—was hit by a car in Piazza Francesco Durante, in the Casoretto area, shortly before 7 PM.

Accident in Piazza Durante: Child injured

The child's condition isn't as serious as that of the eleven-year-old, but—according to an initial hypothesis—it seemed the driver of the car had fled without providing assistance. In reality, according to a family friend who was with the minor, the driver stopped. He got out of the car and asked the two if they needed anything. They said "no," so he drove away.

The local police investigations

The driver then drove away while the child was being treated by personnel from the Regional Emergency and Urgency Agency (AREU), who arrived in an ambulance and a medical car with a yellow code. The minor was transported to Niguarda Hospital. The child involved—who was in the hospital with his mother—also confirmed the family friend's version. Therefore, it was not a case of failure to provide assistance, as initially appeared.

According to local police, the minor was crossing the street at a pedestrian crossing at a traffic light on Via Andrea Costa when he was struck. The Ghisa police, led by Gianluca Mirabelli, are investigating the case. They are the same police who, just hours earlier, identified and arrested an Egyptian man involved in a fatal accident—the victim, Franco Bertolotti —on Via Fratelli Bronzetti on Wednesday morning.
