Penultimate quarter-final of the Coppa Italia, after Atalanta-Bologna and Milan-Roma, in fact, Inter and Lazio will face each other at San Siro. The winner of the match will challenge Conceicao's Milan in the semifinals.
The Biancocelesti started off strong, pushing hard in the first 20 minutes and coming close to scoring with Isaksen, who aimed at Asllani and fired a clean shot to the far post but Josep Martinez sent it out for a corner.
Meanwhile, bad news at Inter, Matteo Darmian is unable to continue his match, Denzel Dumfries takes his place.
After much effort, however, the turning point came in the 33rd minute: Dimarco's corner was blocked by the opposing defense, Arnautovic coordinated himself on the fly and put the ball into the top corner with his left foot.
In the second half Lazio continued to push, again with Isaksen, who in the 53rd minute went to the byline and tried to cross for Zaccagni but first Martinez and then Dumfries cleared the area.
Inzaghi's boys try to react and in the 57th minute Bisseck tries to serve Taremi but the Biancocelesti clear the ball away.
In a moment of difficulty, Inter finds the spark with Correa in the 75th minute, who enters the area but is touched by Gigot. The referee, after a moment of hesitation, whistles a penalty. Calhanoglu steps up from the spot and displaces Mandas. A bad blow for Lazio, who until then had not been at all deserving.
A few minutes later, Pedro takes matters into his own hands, advancing and shooting with his left foot, finding the touch of Bisseck, who almost deceives Martinez. The goalkeeper saves thanks to the crossbar.
The match ends 2-0, the Nerazzurri advance to the next round and will face Milan in a heated derby in the semi-finals of the tournament.
