Death in Rogoredo, commuters call for new gates to prevent crossings

Yet another death occurred in the Rogoredo railway area on Thursday afternoon. This has led to changes and delays in train service. A further consequence is the anger of commuters who find their trains suddenly cancelled, diverted, or delayed.
New fencesAnd the protests are mounting. On Thursday afternoon, in a harsh statement, the local commuters' committee called on Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) to promptly clear the access roads to the railway area on the stretch between Rogoredo and San Zenone al Lambro, southeast of Milan, with new fencing to protect the tracks from the constant pedestrian crossings.
One fact a week"It's been a weekly occurrence now," the commuters' committees wrote in a statement: "For years, we've been highlighting the need to clear access to the railway area. Voluntary actions, such as crossing tracks at stations, are common, but gaps in the railway area fences have become widespread between stations in southern Milan, resulting in unauthorized access to the embankments."
The request is also being extended to the local municipalities, so that mayors and councilors can join together and act as spokespeople.
