Milan officially enters the autumn season. On Monday, the city awoke to rain . The Lombardy Region's Natural Risk Monitoring Center has issued an orange (moderate) alert for hydrogeological risk and a yellow (ordinary) alert for flood risk, effective from midnight Monday and in effect until 4:00 PM today. A yellow alert is also in place for thunderstorms until midnight Tuesday.

What to do (and not to do) during alerts

It is very important, during the weather alert, to abandon all green spaces, parks, and tree-lined areas; do not stand under or near construction site scaffolding, outdoor seating, or tents. Residents are urged to be especially careful near areas at risk of river flooding and underpasses. It is important to secure objects and vases on balconies and all other objects that could be moved by wind and weather. During the alert period, it is important to pay close attention to weather conditions at outdoor events to prevent dangerous situations.

The forecasts

The thunderstorms that hit northern Italy from the night between Sunday and Monday will continue incessantly until early afternoon today "due to the arrival of an Atlantic disturbance that will usher in a more unstable phase with some very intense phenomena. All this accompanied by a drop in temperatures," explain the experts at 3B Meteo . Today, 51 mm of rain are forecast with temperatures between 18 and 24 degrees.

The rest of the week will also be characterized by unstable weather, with temperatures poised to drop dramatically, in line with the new season. After a brief respite, Milan will see rain return on Tuesday afternoon and again on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Clear skies will have to wait until the weekend.
