Books, made in prison and the revolution that brings well-being at the center of 'Unleash value!'

The volume, published by FrancoAngeli, edited by Luciana Delle Donne and Micol Ferrara
Re-education and work in prison as an authentic personal and collective rebirth: these are the themes that, starting from the experience of the 'Made in Carcere' brand, are at the center of the book "Sprigiona il valore! Made in carcere e la Rivoluzione del benessere interno lordo" (ed. FrancoAngeli) edited by Luciana Delle Donne, founder of the non-profit Officina creativa scs, and Micol Ferrara, researcher and communications manager of the project 'Benessere interno lordo (Bil) - Nuovi modelli di economia rigenerativa' financed by the Fondazione con il Sud.
"Beauty exists and must be sought everywhere": this is the social brand philosophy of Made in Carcere - founded in 2007 by Luciana Delle Donne - which 'transforms' the prison into a conscious and creative place where 'differently useful' products are produced: bags, accessories, original and colourful gadgets - it is underlined in the presentation of the volume - They are 'useful and futile' products made in particular by women on the margins of society, who in this way offer a second chance to prisoners and recovered fabrics otherwise destined for waste. A model of sustainable development totally different from the classic charity: a true social enterprise capable of promoting well-being for socially disadvantaged people". An alternative model of well-being, like that of 'Made in Carcere', is not limited to numbers, but puts people, dignity and social change at the centre.
Combining scientific contributions and popular writings, the book proposes a declination of Gross Internal Well-being based on a real experience, on the centrality of female prisoners who rebuild their lives by totally reducing recidivism thanks to work. The book, in a first section, presents the results of a pilot study in the prison contexts under investigation. In a second section, it presents "the toolbox" with various reflections on the theme and/or case studies. And, again, "fragments of real life" or "personal notes of direct and indirect experiences on prison".
