Letizia Battaglia once again the protagonist of the photographic exhibition at San Domenico in Forlì
Forlì 4 July 2025 - The photography exhibition will return to San Domenico in the fall, after a year of hiatus. The announcement was made by Gianfranco Brunelli, vice president of the Carisp Foundation, who also reveals this year's protagonist: the photographer Letizia Battaglia , who passed away in 2022, whose shots return to the city. The first time was on the occasion of the exhibition 'Essere umane', inaugurated in 2021: some of her shots were exhibited together with those of other great photographers of all time. In those days she herself came to the city and held a two-day workshop dedicated to her profession. Now it's not just a few photographs, in fact the new exhibition, which will start on 18 October and continue until 11 January, will include 210 works.
Conceived and created by ' CAMERA _ Centro Italiano per la Fotografia' of Turin, and by the 'Jeu de Paume' of Paris, in collaboration with the 'Archivio Letizia Battaglia' of Palermo, the exhibition, curated by Walter Guadagnini, explores the photographer's entire creative journey also through books, newspapers and magazines, testifying to the variety of her means of expression and the continuity of her civil commitment.
The one dedicated to Letizia Battaglia is the second monographic exhibition focused on the work of a female photographer after that of Eve Arnold in 2023: “We will continue along this line – Brunelli anticipates – and we already think that the protagonist of the next exhibition will also be a photographer, because this approach helps us to look at things from a different perspective than usual and never like in this period do we need to change perspective”.
