Literature, the Michele Serio Award is born: nominations until May 31st

Finally a Serious Award . Organized by the Cultural Association Ba.Cu.Le. (Bacoli Culture and Literature), with the patronage of the Municipality of Bacoli and the Associazione Campana Editori , the literary recognition is born that wants to honor the memory of Michele Serio , one of the most innovative authors on the national scene who passed away in October 2021. A Neapolitan writer and journalist, Serio was able to tell the deepest and most provocative soul of noir, pulp and the grotesque, conquering an audience of passionate readers also and above all abroad, thanks to the translation of his works in countries such as Spain, France, Greece and Germany . Starting with that “ Pizzeria Inferno ” of 1994, which, three years after his literary debut with “ La Signora dei Lupi ”, brought him to general attention for his extraordinary ability to narrate “the sulphurous chronicles of an unacceptable reality”.

This award, desired with fierce determination by his daughter Eva Serio , who conceived it and took on its artistic direction, therefore has the declared objective of promoting genre literature, discovering emerging authors or those already known to the public, valorising the territory of Bacoli , as a centre of excellence for culture and creativity, creating a real community capable of networking, encouraging dialogue and connection between authors, publishers and readers.

There are two main categories : humorous, grotesque and pulp , and mystery and noir . The competition is open to all publishing houses that have published works belonging to the aforementioned categories in the last two years, or authors who have not self-published their texts. The jury , composed of industry experts and authors such as Andrea Carlo Cappi, Valerio Caprara, Antonella Cilento, Peppe Lanzetta, Angelo Petrella and Serge Quadruppani, will announce the three finalists 20 days before the awards ceremony , which will take place on Saturday 25 October 2025 in Bacoli. The winner will be awarded an artistic work inspired by the territory and the literary production of Michele Serio.
