The Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo opens to the public today.

A large audience crowded the huge halls of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, inaugurated Last Saturday and from today open to the public in its entirety: over 100 thousand artifacts and the entire treasure of Tutankhamun, composed of over 5,300 pieces. Previously, only a few rooms had been opened, the monumental staircase and some thematic galleries. Access to the new museum is entirely digitalised: the complex, which includes gardens, cafes, squares and shops, will be accessible every day from 8.30am to 7pm, with an extension until 10pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Galleries and exhibition halls are open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and until 9:00 PM on the two extended opening days. The last one Entrance is permitted one hour before closing time: 5:00 PM on normal days and at 8:00 pm for evening visits. Tickets can only be purchased online through the official website of the museum (visit-gem.com). The entrance fee for Egyptians is 1,450 lira. Free entry is guaranteed for the whole week at children under six, visitors with disabilities, Egyptian tour guides who accompany groups and members of the International Council of Museums. Other benefits are planned for students and accredited journalists.
